Nordic Sugar’s factory in Nakskov is one of the most efficient sugar factories in Northern Europe. At the factory they were challenged by time intensive manual processes with sampling and analyzing sugar crystal sizes. This led to fewer samples a day and a potential risk that the slow processes would have a negative impact on the quality of the product delivered to the customers.

Nordic Sugar is met by demands from customers for high-quality products, which are also fully documented. Therefore, they turned to Scangrading for help in automating processes for measuring and analyzing sugar crystal sizes. We installed SIZELAB In-Line in the production line, and the positive effect of automating the process came almost immediately.

Automation keeps the factory competitive

With the automated setup the operator has the opportunity to monitor the measurements online and receive data directly in the control room. This gives the operator the possibility to follow the production and check the status of the sugar flow live with full documentation 24/7. This insight allows the operator to react immediately if adjustments are needed. Over the years, Nordic Sugar Nakskov has managed to reduce the need for manual labor and still keep the factory competitive thanks to the transition to more automated processes.
